Established in 1991, Tritech International Limited began with the aim of producing the finest, most innovative range of subsea products for the offshore oil & gas industry, military and other world-wide subsea markets.

Tritech: Specialists in three main areas of underwater technology.

As its name suggests, Tritech embraces three different technologies:

  • Acoustic and video imaging
  • Motion reference and positioning
  • Mechanical and hydraulic

Tritech specialises in the design and production of high performance acoustic sensors, sonars, video cameras and mechanical tooling equipment for the professional underwater markets including defence, energy, engineering, recreation, survey and underwater vehicles. Tritech is an industry leader in the provision of sensors and tools for ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicles) and AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) markets.

Tritech recognise that to remain an industry leader, it must be able to optimise all engineering, design and production resources to maintain its market leading innovations.

To accomplish this, Tritech has formed market specialist roles for key staff, to develop strategies for Tritech to capitalise on its technical expertise.

The following are milestones in the company which have attributed to its growth and success in the past 20 years:

1991

  • Tritech was founded by Richard Marsh and Dick Wright, beginning operations as a two-man outfit from a converted house in Kingswells, Aberdeenshire
  • Tritech began a joint venture with Swift 943 Ltd, Ulverston, founded by Marcus Cardew and formed in 1985 trading as System Technologies (ST)

1994

  • Richard Marsh and Dick Wright moved from the converted house in Kingswells, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, to Tritech's current location at Westhill Business Park
  • Tritech received their first prestigious Queen's Award for Export Achievement

2000

  • Tritech achieved the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s Millennium Award

2001

  • Tritech was awarded another prestigious Queen's Award, this time for Innovation

2006

  • Tritech became part of Halma p.l.c., a global group, operating within three specialised business sectors; Health and Analysis, Infrastructure Sensors and Industrial Safety.
  • Tritech Aberdeen and ST Ulverston merge during Tritech’s acquisition by Halma p.l.c, in November 2006.

2007

  • Sonar Research and Development (SRD), founded in 1981, with the aim to exploit unique methods of manufacturing efficient sonar transducers and sophisticated multibeam products and as providers of marine survey services, join Tritech after their acquisition by Halma p.l.c.

2008 October

2009 October

  • The multibeam expertise of SRD is incorporated into Tritech's Ulverston site, with the survey side of the business transferred to NCS Survey, Aberdeen.
