David Bradley: Reflecting on 2016
David Bradley, Managing Director, Tritech International Ltd
"It’s no secret that the oil and gas industry has its challenges right now, and as a company, we therefore recognised the opportunity to focus more on other market areas and apply our technology to those industries especially in 2016.
As an example, our Gemini 720is sonar is currently being deployed in Australia to detect sharks which is something we may not have explored a few years ago. The MicronNav USBL system which was originally designed for micro ROV tracking, has also been adopted in the diving sector as a robust and cost effective alternative to established tracking systems. It’s fantastic to see our technology thriving in these new markets and this is down to the hard work of our teams.
Last year was also a focus for innovation as Tritech continued to invest in our research and development with the launch of our latest multibeam imaging sonar. The Gemini 720is, an upgrade of the Gemini 720i, was launched in March 2016 and combines the benefits of high-definition imaging with long-range target detection. It’s ideal for Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) and Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) platforms, as well as mammal detection within the renewables industry. We have already made enhancements to this product with the addition of an underwater pluggable connector in November 2016 and both 5° and 10° beam widths available in addition to the existing 20° width.
I am extremely proud of the results the team at Tritech have produced in what has been a difficult year. Our constant drive and commitment to innovation has continued to differentiate us against competitors and I look forward to seeing further success in 2017."
